Skive's Louis Clement and Publicis Modem's David Prideaux grapple over a BIMA while posing for the cameras

Team Skive enjoyed a big night out in Camden last Thursday at the BIMAs, held this year at Koko.

Together with Publicis Modem, we picked up 2 awards from a possible 7 for Start Thinking Soldier, including Best Interactive Advertising and Best Advergame – and later found out we were within a whisker of the coveted Grand Prix, which ended up going to Philips Cinema 21:9.

BIMA Award Matt & Jim

Matt Stafford keeps the paparazzi at bay with his crutches while Jon Groom, Asan Aslam and Jim Hall reap the applause

The agency took a whopping 16 Skivers to the event, showing the scale of the project and the sheer number of people involved, and a good night was had by all – not least when beatbox wizard Beardyman took to the stage and jolted the audience awake with his ‘verbal hellfire’.

Skive recently picked up a bronze at the London International Awards, in the Online Games category.

Under the impression that the statues would be shipped to Skive HQ within the next two weeks, a few of the team went to the UK Winners party at the Paramount Club to scarf down the complimentary drinks and canapes on offer, and the chance to ‘mingle, with a cocktail or two…..or three to celebrate’.

Rolling in at half eight, we were surprised to see the awards had already been handed out (mostly to the ever-gracious AKQA), a lone bronze statue sitting neglected on its own on the Awards table.

Needless to say it was ours, so we grabbed a beer and happily made the most of a photo op.

ckin2uWe’ve been doing quite a lot of work with Coty to support various fragrance launches and sales initiatives with rich media banner ads.

Recent work includes campaigns for Davidoff Hot Water and Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

The latest is for a limited edition CKin2U metallic bottle, with creative by Staffs and Raks, inviting users to ‘come play’ with the bottles, which liquify upon touch before reforming.

The Kit Kat Harmonica

The third and final Kit Kat promotion this year has gone live, and centres around Music Breaks – with free music download offers on pack.

To support the promotion, we’ve produced three online ad creatives, including these fun rich media banners featuring our very Matt Staff and Dan C, playing ‘the Kit Kat harmonica’.

The message is that there’s a better way to get music from your Kit Kat – and that doesn’t mean using it as a zither, either.

Skive and Soup Join Forces

soup3In a move that makes it a Top 40 Digital Agency, Skive has acquired a controlling stake in creative digital agency Soup.

The agency, which is based in London and Norwich and has 35 staff, currently works for clients such Sky, Innocent, Jordans Cereals, Virgin Money, Moonpig and Aviva.

The two agencies will continue to operate as separate entities, but will share certain resources when required, to provide clients with an even wider range of skills across the group.

Commenting on Skive’s acquisition of Soup, Chairman Alan Page said “We see this as the first step of our strategic plan to develop a broader independent digital marketing offering.  As Skive increases its direct relationships with clients, the exceptional skills of Soup in strategic planning and creative will provide the group with a chance to continue developing its own skills in these areas.  Also, the deal places the combined group in the NMA Top 40 agencies in the UK.”

Nick Thompson, Soup, said, “This is a great opportunity to take the business forward with like-minded people. Skive is ambitious, has strong credentials, a reputation for delivering high quality work and is passionate about digital. We are all excited about moving forward together.”
